 Zuni Fetish Carver

Just before the turn of the Millennium, Zuni fetish carving was
in its Golden Age. There were still old time carvers about like
"Old Man" Halate, Edna Leki and Francis Leekya. Yet, in other
 corners of the Reservation, Lance Cheama and Herbert Him
 were teaching young Zuni carvers to carve lifelike.

Michael Coble, Staley Natewa, and Herbert Him lived within
a few houses of each other and they would often confer.
Herbert Him was a mentor to Michael and Staley.
These Michael Coble carvings resulted
from that relationship.

The Collection below was accumulated from 1998 to 2002.
Most were bought around the year 2000.
