Bernard Homer / Alice Leekya Family
Zuni Fetish Carvings

Bernard Homer Sr. (deceased) married Alice Leekya (deceased, daughter of
Leekya Deyuse). Bernard Sr. was taught to carve by Leekya Deyuse and
remained true to that style throughout his career.

The Homer / Leekya style is carried forward today by both Bernard Homer Jr.
and his sister Juana Homer.

Bernard Sr., Bernard Jr. and Juana Homer carvings are so true Leekya
 Deyuse's carvings that it takes a very experienced eye to discern the
difference. The difference in cost can be thousands of dollars.

his father's Serpentine Bear (sold)

The White Alabaster Medicine Bear in the background is the last
Bernard Homer Sr. bear I have. I bought it directly from
Mr. Homer years ago. This was among the
last carvings he made.
